Tutoring Experience

My teaching career spans secondary and international schools, with extensive experience in IBDP English Language and Literature, MYP English, IGCSE English and AP English Language. I currently teach English Language and Composition and have taught Seminar too. My private tutoring includes exam preparation, analytical writing and language development, with students achieving Grade 7s in IB and scores of 5 in AP English. I also have training in Linguistics and second-language teaching methods.

Tutoring Approach

I begin by listening to the student and using a short reading or writing task to see how they interpret, organise and express ideas. From there, I plan lessons around the areas that need work. For IB, IGCSE and AP, we analyse texts, discuss language choices and practise structured written responses using criteria and timed responses. I give detailed feedback on writing between lessons, then revisit the same skill through a new text or question so progress can be checked over time, under timed exam conditions.
