Tutoring Experience

I have helped students successfully in both Biology and Chemistry in the past, building my own comprehensive revision notes at both GCSE and IB level for these subjects which I will be able to share with my students.

Having recently completed both UK Medical Admissions Tests I have also accumulated numerous revision strategies and resources for achieving the highest marks possible in these tests which have proven popular in the cohort that undertook their exams most recently.

Tutoring Approach

For both Biology and Chemistry, my students have learnt most efficiently when I go through the basic concepts of a topic with them first, often using mneumonics to memorize important information as I have found this to be one of the most effective ways of tackling these content heavy subjects.

Subsequently, I source past paper questions focussed on concepts that the student has found more difficult, allowing them to work through the questions with my help and eventually without.

I have also written my own comprehensive notes for each topic which I will be able to give my students access to in order to complement their own revision notes.

Having recently undertaken the UCAT and BMAT, I am aware of the most effective ways of revising for these tests to ensure the best results possible. I will start by going through each section in either the UCAT or BMAT to provide my student with a general understanding of the question formats and required knowledge. Following on from this, I will provide more detail of the different effective strategies for approaching each section, allowing my student to try each method and choose those that they feel most comfortable with.

Medical admissions testing is often a stressful experience for students, therefore I aim to help my students be as comfortable as possible with the question formats and provide them with useful frameworks for approaching the different sections, such as the essay section in the BMAT which students often find the most challenging.
