Tutoring Experience

With a strong background in mathematics education, I have spent over nine years tutoring students at various levels, focusing on IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (HL & SL). As Head of Mathematics at Redhill School, I oversee curriculum development, assessment design, and professional development for a team of seven teachers, and my teaching integrates technology-enhanced tools such as GDC, MS Teams, GeoGebra, and Desmos to deepen conceptual understanding. Additionally, I have examined and moderated IB assessments, including Grade 12 IB Mathematics marking, ensuring students are well-prepared for high-stakes exams; this experience enables me to guide learners through complex topics, exam techniques, and mathematical reasoning, helping them achieve top grades.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to IB Mathematics tutoring prioritises deep conceptual understanding over rote memorisation. I emphasise the "why" behind mathematical concepts, helping students build strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By making connections between different topics, I enable students to approach problems logically and with confidence.

Sessions are tailored to each student’s individual needs, ensuring a student-driven learning environment that adapts to their pace and areas for improvement. I create a supportive and interactive atmosphere, encouraging students to ask questions, tackle challenging problems, and develop their mathematical intuition. Through exploration and logical reasoning, I help students gain clarity in problem-solving and build confidence in their mathematical abilities.
