Tutoring Experience

At a renowned International School in London, I have had the privilege of delivering engaging Biology (both SL & HL) and ESS lessons tailored specifically for the IB Diploma Programme.

In my time there, I took on the responsibility of developing the Biology curriculum for MYP4-5, ensuring that it emphasized conceptual understanding.

Furthermore, for the younger MYP1-2 levels, I implemented an inquiry-based curriculum for Integrated Sciences. Recognizing the diverse needs of my students, I differentiated my lessons to cater to both ESL learners and those who are exceptional. Beyond the academics, I took on the role of a homeroom teacher for MYP1-2, supporting the social and emotional development of culturally diverse students.

My leadership roles didn't stop there: in 2022, I managed teaching staff as their supervisor and championed student independence in my role as the Personal Project Coordinator for MYP5. Prior to this, I had the honor of teaching at an 'Outstanding' Ofsted-rated school in London.

There, I delivered Science classes to students ranging from Year 7 to 13, adhering to the British National Curriculum.

This also included offering vocational courses specifically designed for those considering careers in health care settings.

Building a positive rapport with my students and providing constructive feedback are essential aspects of my tutoring style. My goal is to empower students, helping them become confident and independent learners.

I take pride in my comprehensive presentation style, which focuses on two key objectives: improving exam performance and fostering a genuine love for learning. I hone in on areas of weakness and empower students to face and conquer them. I initially start by sending my students diagnostic checklists or quizzes to assess prior learning to make the most effective use of our time. Having a tutor is truly a collaborative process and takes teamwork to succeed.

In online lessons, I utilise collaborative whiteboards to create an interactive and inclusive environment that enhances students' understanding and engagement. Through personalised activities and quizzes, I tailor the learning experience to address individual progress, boosting students' confidence in exam preparation.

For in-person sessions, I bring dynamic lessons with a variety of resources, igniting students' passion for the subject matter. Moreover, I cultivate a supportive atmosphere that encourages students to explore and be creative, creating a positive and safe space for learning.

My well-rounded approach ensures active participation, effective exam readiness, and a profound love for learning that extends far beyond assessments, empowering students on their academic journey.
