Personally Interviewed
Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process, having been interviewed to assess their teaching skills and subject knowledge. They have extensive tutoring experience with a track record of success, helping students achieve their academic goals.
Tutoring Experience
I have experience teaching a variety of learning styles, from middle schoolers in math, high students in the ACT and college applications, college students in biology, adults of a wide age range in emergency medical response and CPR. I aim to use my breadth in study strategies and learning styles to help any student adapt to their tutoring needs. Additionally, I have had experience working in the admissions office of a selective university and have regularly offered advice on selective admissions.
Tutoring Approach
MCAT
The very first meeting for an MCAT student would be designing a personalized schedule that will help them achieve their goals within their limited time frame. This includes the division between learning content and taking practice exams, setting up time to tutor in subjects of particular need, scheduling test-taking strategy sessions, reviewing practice tests, and how to incorporate study breaks. The MCAT not only has a large amount of content, but tests analytical skills synthesizing new data, and I intend to teach both to MCAT students.
College Level Biology
I have extensive experience teaching college level genetics and cell biology, and have taken courses in physiology, anatomy, evolution, biochemistry, metabolism, and special biology topics such as cancer, epidemiology, and ethics. The first session will ideally go over a student’s course syllabus, identify potential topics that the student may need additional help in, and schedule sessions to review those areas, whether that is to go over problem sets, review exams, or re-teach course content.
Medical School Admissions Counseling
I look forward to the opportunity to share my successful experience applying to top competitive medical schools in the United States. I would conduct mock interviews based off of questions I experienced from 12 different medical school interviews with personalized feedback, edit personal statements and extracurriculars to help find an applicant’s genuine voice and make them stand out to admissions committees, personalize school lists, and help those earlier in the process plan out college courses and activities to make them a well-rounded candidate.
College Admissions Essay Writing and Counseling
Leveraging my experience working in the admissions office of an elite university and my own success applying to college, I would work with students on crafting a personal statement, creating school lists, and demonstrating impressive extracurriculars. While there are many options for college, I would help a student find a school that fits them and help them realize their dream to attend it.
