Tutoring Experience

I’ve tutored for almost five years and have worked with learners at KS3, GCSE and A-Level, mainly supporting English Language, English Literature, reading skills and written answers. Across 160+ hours of tutoring, I’ve taught students with different starting points, from those needing steadier grammar and paragraphing to pupils aiming for sharper analysis. My Queen Mary student ambassador work also involved mentoring and answering questions clearly, which carries into my lessons with real focus.

Tutoring Approach

I usually begin by checking how a student handles a text or question, then plan lessons around the gaps I notice. For GCSE, I spend a lot of time on paragraph control, quotations, language analysis and writing with a clear purpose. For A-Level English Language, I like working through terminology, comparison and commentary style. I keep lessons conversational, but I do expect students to practise properly, review feedback and learn how to turn good ideas into clear marks in timed exam conditions.
