Tutoring Experience

My teaching experience includes professional tuition in Spanish, English and Maths, alongside two years supporting MYP students in science. Across these roles, I have provided over 200 hours of tutoring. My IB background includes Biology and Chemistry HL, Maths AA SL and English SL. Working with different learners has taught me to adapt my explanations to suit their ages and needs. I listen closely when students describe a difficulty with classwork, as that often tells me where a lesson needs to begin.

Tutoring Approach

It helps to hear a student explain what they already know in more detail before I plan a lesson. I use examples to make the theory clear and accessible and split larger ideas into smaller steps. We then work through questions together before they try some on their own. If something is unclear, I want them to say so; I’ll explain it differently rather than move on too fast. Whether we’re working on science, maths or languages, I adjust the pace to the student and leave room for questions throughout the session.
