Personally Interviewed

Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process, having been interviewed to assess their teaching skills and subject knowledge. They have extensive tutoring experience with a track record of success, helping students achieve their academic goals.

Tutoring Experience

I have coached 7 students in their application to study various STEM subjects at Oxford University (from UCAS application including Personal Statement writing, to interview preparation), of which 3 students gained successful admissions, the remaining students all were offered places at other top universities in the UK including Imperial College London, UCL and KCL.

Additionally, I have helped reviewed 20+ personal statements (PS), spell-checking and providing suggestions and insights in crafting a PS that is attractive to Oxford Admissions Tutors. I have also provided Oxford and Cambridge admissions interview preparation in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, and Biochemistry. Through the years I have also tutored many students (paid and unpaid) mainly in the subjects and Biology and Maths.

In 2018, I was attached with a Tuition Centre providing English and Mathematics lessons based on the Korean Syllabus. In total, I have long-term (3 months+) tutoring experience with 5 English students, 9 Maths students, and 3 Biology students; and conducted short-term tutoring (mostly one-off 2-hour sessions to understand a certain topics) with over 15 individual students.

Tutoring Approach

Every student has a unique approach to leaning, and thus do not all respond to the ‘cookie-cutter’ teaching that is often provided in traditional schools.

I have struggled with mild-dyslexia all throughout my education and personally understand that every student’s works at their own pace, and that it is meaningful to invest time and effort in working out the best study ‘method’ that is suitable for each individual.

Fundamentally, I believe that it is always best to fully understand an underlying concept and then apply it to applications and exam questions, instead of rote memorization. I also believe that learning is a fun activity. I often try to demonstrate this by relating textbook-topics with real-life examples and applications.

This way, the student understands ‘WHY’ they are studying a certain topic in the first place, and will be able to visualize it for themselves.
