Tutoring Experience

My experience spans private tuition, public universities and professional military education. I have delivered over 400 hours of independent classroom teaching and more than 650 hours of private History tuition, including AP, IGCSE, IB and A-Level courses. I have worked with learners from childhood through to later life, adapting to very different reasons for studying history. Across these settings, I’ve helped students with historical understanding, writing, essay organisation and approaches to studying.

Tutoring Approach

History makes more sense when you can see why it matters. I connect the topics we cover to a student’s interests and the world around them, while keeping their course requirements in view. If an essay or homework question feels difficult, we look at what is causing the problem, whether that’s understanding the events or explaining an idea in writing. Lessons make room for discussion as well as study skills and essay structure, so students can work through their thinking and find a clear way to express it.
