Tutoring Experience

With over 20 years of experience, I have been tutoring IB English, German, and French, as well as guiding students through their IB Extended Essays, since 2021. My work includes supporting students across various curricula, including I(GCSE), A-level, IB, TELC, Goethe, TestDaF, and DELF/DALF. I specialize in online tutoring for Pre-IB, Mid-IB, revision, and retake courses, delivering lessons tailored to individual needs and goals. As an IB examiner and workshop leader, I bring deep insights into exam preparation and effective study techniques, ensuring students are well-equipped to excel.

Tutoring Approach

I start by assessing the student's current abilities and areas of improvement. I ask students to share past papers they have completed, starting with Paper 1 to evaluate their analytical skills and essay-writing techniques. This initial assessment provides a clear understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Based on this, I tailor lessons to focus on specific areas needing improvement, such as reading and analyzing texts, identifying patterns, and providing actionable tips to enhance performance. When students ask questions or seek clarification in advance, I prepare example papers and materials to address their concerns effectively. Each session is carefully structured to build confidence, foster critical thinking, and make progress toward their academic goals.

Homework is assigned regularly, but I always consider the student’s time and other commitments, ensuring tasks are manageable yet impactful. I encourage a mindset of adaptability and openness to new approaches, helping students shift their perspective and refine their skills. Communication is a cornerstone of my teaching; I maintain constant dialogue with students to monitor their progress, address challenges, and celebrate achievements. By fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, I empower students to take ownership of their growth and develop a deeper appreciation.
