Tutoring Experience

I possess over four years of experience in tutoring, primarily focusing on students from China and the UK. My expertise includes:

Drafting and editing personal statements for:

• Master's applications in Economics, Finance, Accounting, and related fields for top UK universities (Cambridge, Oxford, UCL, LSE, KCL, Edinburgh, LBS, Cass, etc.).
• Master's applications in Finance for leading US universities (MIT, Yale, JHU).
• Undergraduate applications in Economics and related fields for top UK universities.

Developing and teaching two original 40-hour courses with excellent feedback:

• Economics Masterclass: A four-module course designed for Year 12/13 students or equivalents, covering key concepts from the first year of Cambridge undergraduate economics. This course is ideal for those considering a degree in Economics at Cambridge, preparing for interviews and the ECAA, or seeking a head start in university-level Economics.
• ECAA Prep: A bespoke course featuring hundreds of original questions aimed at preparing students for all aspects of the ECAA.

Additionally, I have:

• Provided specialized support for other university admission tests, including the TSA.
• Conducted practice interviews and interview training for undergraduate admissions at Cambridge and Oxford.
• Delivered a finance learning program and coached teams for the Wharton GHS Investment Competition, leading several teams to the semi-finals and one to the global finals.
• Tutored students for various essay competitions, such as those hosted by the Marshall Society, RES, and John Locke.
• Offered tuition in A-Level Economics, Maths, and Further Maths, as well as GCSE Maths, with all students showing significant improvement in test performance under my guidance.

Tutoring Approach

My approach varies by topic and student. However, common across all my lessons are the
following factors:

Interactivity and adaptability: whilst I have structured lesson plans, a unique aspect of my approach is my willingness to allow the student to guide the lesson. I mostly use an interactive whiteboard (instead of, for example, PowerPoint slides), in order to take advantage of the small class environment. This can mean focusing in further on areas my students find difficult, or going on slight tangents which can significantly enhance their understanding and add value.

Out of class assignments: to ensure students get the most out of the course, I give them tailored assignments to enable them to explore the subject in their own time. These are structured with essential and optional questions, allowing the student to put in the amount of time that best suits their needs.
