Tutoring Experience

I have experience in tutoring Biology and Chemistry up to GCSE standard, more specifically in school admissions tests.

I work from the syllabus and pull information from the GCSE specification to aid in the students understanding – this helps with not only answering the admission questions but gives them a comprehensive understanding of the course before they start school. This improves their confidence, which to me is the most important thing to build with tutoring sessions!

Teaching A-level students I tend to focus on understanding the reasons why chemical and biological processes happen, it’s more important to be able to answer every question that could be thrown your way than simply copying the mark scheme. I have taught both Chemistry and Biology at A-level and have found students benefit from using examples to complement the textbook, something I am able to provide from not only completing the course myself but studying at university and being exposed to these processes in the lab.

Tutoring Approach

I produce comprehensive and interesting worksheets on the subject at hand, each one is personalised and covers a wide range of material, including supplementary material which acts to engage the student in the subject.

I teach with a bright and bubbly personality and want to be as approachable as possible to the student, hoping to make people realise there is no silly questions!

When teaching from a specification I tend to study the syllabus to try and grasp the key aspects of the course, I regularly incorporate exam questions into sessions to test the students understanding, as I believe past papers are one of the most vital tools in understanding a topic.

However, the greatest tool is feedback and I love to hear students reviews so I can learn and improve with them and hopefully provide the greatest service possible!
