I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Law, complemented by a Postgraduate Certificate from University College London. My academic journey has been enriched by a year of professional experience, where I served as a student teacher in two secondary schools in London. This role not only honed my instructional skills but also deepened my understanding of educational needs. I possess a sincere passion for engaging with new individuals and offering personalized, one-to-one tutoring that is tailored to each student's unique aspirations and learning objectives.

Tutoring Experience

As a student teacher at University College London (UCL), I taught Fine Art and Art History classes to Key Stages 3 to 5 at two secondary schools in London. I also co-tutored a Year 10 form group and mentored Sixth Form students with their A-level coursework, essays and interview preparation for university admissions. Two students I mentored received offers from University College London (UCL) and the Royal Drawing School.

Since September 2019, I have taught EAL online one-to-one with beginner to advanced EAL students from a range of cultural, socio-economic backgrounds across Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Brazil, Turkey and India, and have successfully prepared students for the IELTS speaking test.

In addition, I have experience tutoring Key Stage 3 students one-to-one with English Language, English Literature and History, to achieve top marks.

Tutoring Approach

English Language and Literature Tuition Approach (KS3, GCSE, A-Level, University Admissions, University-level)

My tuition approach is student-centered and bespoke to the student’s goals. The key agenda of the first session is to establish what they are wanting to achieve, and from there, we can build a strategic plan. For gaining top grades at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level, sessions will be built around the student’s set texts and assessment criteria to develop further their analytical essay writing skills. As an English Literature graduate, I would be more than happy to mentor and advise students on creating a polished personal statement, as well as any interview preparation needed, as part of their university admissions to study English. For university-level English, recommended reading and advice on honing and developing critical essay writing skills will be given at each stage. A particular focus whilst tutoring this exciting subject will be to develop the student’s contextual (gender, time, place) analysis, in addition to establishing methods of analysing the form, language and structure of the text. Recommended resources for further study will be given to deepen and extend the student’s knowledge, understanding and analysis of the text.

Law Tuition Approach (University Admissions & A Level)

For each aspiring Lawyer, a tailored framework will be mapped out to create a polished personal statement, as well as interview preparation, as part of their university admissions to study Law. As a current MA Law student, and three-fold university applicant (BA (Hons), PGCert & MA), I have a wealth of experience in writing successful personal statements that make the university tick. Sessions will involve ‘brainstorming’ and drawing out of the student their existing strengths, both curricular and extracurricular, as well as weekly bucket lists of recommended research and activities to make their personal statement stand out. Particular attention will be paid to correct use of grammar, spelling and punctuation, as well as the use of language, of which there will be frequent corrections and constructive feedback.

For A Level tuition, I have a thorough knowledge of the subject, paired with a host of PowerPoints and worksheets for students to clarify and deepen their knowledge and understanding of legal concepts, case law and Acts that are pivotal to: Criminal Law, Tort Law and Human Rights Law, in addition to the ‘legal method’ units concerning: The English Legal System, Law Making and The Nature of Law. Tutoring will also revolve around honing a top-mark essay writing approach to both scenario-based and essay-based questions, by working through past paper questions and reviewing essay answers against the mark scheme with tailored and constructive feedback.

EAL Tuition Approach (IELTS Speaking Test)

EAL sessions will involve engaging, guiding and motivating the student through a variety of fun questions and tailoring their topics of interest, as well as practicing IELTS speaking test questions. Each session will be built around the students’ goals. My interpersonal and clear communication skills are key strengths in improving students’ conversational English skills. In addition, frequent corrections and constructive feedback will be given in alignment with the IELTS assessment criteria in order for the student to successfully prepare for the IELTS speaking test.
