Tutoring Experience
I began tutoring STEM subjects at the University of Central Florida and Miami Dade College, focusing on small-group instruction in Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. Over time, I specialised in IB Physics and IB Mathematics, working with students across K–12 and international curricula, particularly the IB Diploma Programme. My experience also includes teaching in American schools abroad, where I engaged with IB, Montessori, and Project-Based Learning methodologies. Additionally, I have been trained by SAT/ACT experts to prepare students for standardised tests using evidence-based test-taking strategies.
Tutoring Approach
My approach to tutoring IB Physics and IB Maths is grounded in personalisation, structure, and continuous assessment. Before lessons begin, I initiate a consultation to understand the student’s current understanding, target areas, and academic goals. I then design a targeted lesson plan to address their specific challenges, ensuring alignment with IB curriculum standards.
Each session begins with a warm-up activity—designed to reduce anxiety and build confidence—followed by focused instruction and active problem-solving. I encourage inquiry-based learning and guide students through complex concepts by simplifying them into manageable steps, often linking theory with practical real-world applications, especially in Physics.
A performance tracker is maintained to log lesson progress, homework outcomes, and assessment results. This helps me adapt my teaching in real time and ensures measurable growth. My aim is not only to help students achieve top scores but also to empower them with independent thinking skills and long-term academic resilience.
Testimonials
"I have now been having regular sessions with jessica for over month (we have now done 6 sessions together), and I feel that I can now form a proper opinion regarding Jessica and the tutoring in general. I initially sought out to get tutoring due to the fact that I was debating between Math AA HL and Math AA SL, yet I ended up dropping down to SL due to several reasons (not because of poor performance but rather timetable issues etc.) Since then I have been able to really focalize on my studies and Jessica has taught me important values. I have always prided myself in being conseptually good and fast in math, always trying to rush throught the problems, yet Jessica notcied this and informed me that it would greatly benefit me so as to not make small arithmetic errors etc. This has always been a problem as I understand how to do the problem but I distribute wrong or take the wrong root or whatever it may be. These sessions with Jessica have taught me not only disipline in actually doing my homework and studying content we learned in class (I used to never to homework or study at all for that matter), but most importantly I feel that she has improved my overall structure and allowed me to put my thinking pace into organized steps (although it is still a work in progress of course.) I sincerely wish to continue working with Jessica to ensure that I achieve all the big goals I have for myself in terms of academics, and I believe that with her help I can succeed in my studies."
Cyprien, IB Maths/Physics HL student
I thought Jessica was the definition of perfection. With her way of teaching and her way of understanding. I very much appreciated that she listened to how I wanted to make classes and formed them according to how I like it (being an introduction lesson first then questions, exam questions, after). I also very like how she has her ‘student tracker.’ This allows both me and her to follow my progress. It also allows for me to go back and have all the work I have been doing in one place. This is very helpful as I can use it to prepare for exams. The student tracker also allows for me to see my progress. Something I am looking forward to doing.
