As a British citizen, I possess a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Science Education (PGCSE) from the University of Leeds, complemented by 13 years in teaching. Deeply passionate about the natural world and conservation, in 2016, I initiated a significant endeavor in the Peruvian jungle—a native forest restoration project. Looking ahead, I aim to establish a dedicated scientific research centre on this site, furthering ecosystem understanding and preservation.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 13 years teaching experience. I have worked in schools in the UK and in a number of different international settings including Korea, South Africa, Vietnam, Peru, and Georgia (Eastern Europe). Students under my tutorship have achieved higher results than historical averages and above that of national averages in both checkpoint (KS3) and IGCSE assessment.

When I was head of department at the International School of Tbilisi my department was described as a beacon of best practice in the 2019 COBIS inspection. I believe that my students have been able to achieve excellent results because of my ability to motivate, encourage, and develop a passion for the subject. I feel strongly that I am able to bring out the best in individual students, particularly those that are disillusioned with conventional in-school classes. I have significant experience of curriculum planning and feel confident I would be able to produce an excellent home school program.

I am currently living and working in Peru. The pandemic has hit Peru with alarming severity and teaching has been online here since March 2020. I have adjusted extremely well to the virtual environment and have made the decision to move into online tutoring on a full time basis in the near future because I genuinely love the format, and feel that I have become somewhat of an expert and providing interactive lessons of a very high standard. I have treated the pandemic as an opportunity to learn new teaching techniques and feel that the way education will be delivered is on the cusp of significant change and want to be a part of this transition to a format with increased emphasis on online learning support.

I have significant experience of working with individual students in a tutoring capacity through the after school Science 'catch-up' classes I have provided in my previous schools. I have also coached boxing for a number of years and worked as an award leader on the Duke of Edinburgh. I feel that all of these experiences have helped me develop trust, close relationships, and rapport with individual students. I am very comfortable working with students who have English as a second language or have obstacles to learning in the conventional classroom setting.
