Tutoring Experience

I’ve taught both privately and through companies for 3+ years. One of my maths students doubled her mark and jumped 2 grades within our first 3 sessions! One of my GCSE French students went from a 6 to a 9 within 3 months. Named as the top, most effective tutor on another tutoring platform, I was selected to teach group sessions on revision and exam techniques.

Tutoring Approach

Maths/Further Maths/MAT/French: Having discussed with the student what they are struggling with most and how they learn most effectively for a tailored approach, I usually start by explaining the topic generally so that students understand the exact context of the information. For me, thoroughly understanding the material is key for applying it to tougher exam questions. I check regularly if the student understands and work from ground up, with no assumptions of knowledge. I define exactly what examiners will look for and relate content to real-life examples to keep it memorable and interactive. I then incorporate harder exam board-specific questions to perfect their exam technique e.g. for questions that span multiple topics at the same time.

Maths/Further Maths/MAT specific: I break down each question into reliable steps unlike in most textbooks and tell you the simplest way to remember a complex concept. Having completed multiple past papers to the highest grade, I’ve developed methods which are so easy to remember that in the exam, it becomes second nature!
