Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced tutor who has privately taught kindergarten to college students for over 6 years. I am passionate about teaching and using my knowledge to see students improve and gain confidence in their education.

I have experience tutoring in all levels of math including SAT/ACT, Algebra, Statistics, Calculus (I, II, & III), Multivariable Calculus, and Linear Algebra.

Additionally, I have taught IB and college level physics and economics. For college preparation, I work with students on standardized tests as well as college admissions essays.

I have helped my students raise their SAT scores by over 250 points and gain admissions into top US and Canadian universities such as Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, and Cornell.

Tutoring Approach

SAT/ACT: For standardized testing, I work with students to go through as many practice tests as possible to get them familiar with what the tests expect of them. Then I work through commonly missed questions and tips/tricks. I work hard to help my students get as familiar with the types of questions asked of them and how to work through them in a timely manner.

Math, Science, Economics: I start by reviewing concepts and going over problems related to each topic. Then I have the students try a few problems on their own and explain the solution to me. It is very important for the student to be able to understand and be able to explain the mathematical concepts rather than simply memorizing formulas.

Programming: I work with students to first teach the fundamentals of a programming language then help them find a project of their interest to apply their new knowledge. The best way to learn programming is through application, so I give the students short exercises as well as a long-term project to work on.

Korean: I try to use as much Korean during my lessons as possible to help with live listening and speaking. This helps students try to use what they learned right away, retain the vocabulary, and ask questions about new words they are unfamiliar with. Additionally, I tailor the whole curriculum around the student’s interest by utilizing current books, media, and cultural documentaries.
