Oxford University - BA Physics and Philosophy
Achieving a top score in the Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) and ranking in the top 5 in the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO), culminating in representing the UK at the International Physics Olympiad, has endowed me with a profound understanding of the requisites for excelling at the highest level in Physics and Maths. I am enthusiastic about imparting this knowledge, skill, and inspiration to students, guiding them to realise their full potential.

Tutoring Experience
I have four years experience tutoring Maths and Physics (including PAT, NSAA, BPhO and ENGAA) both in-person and online. My most recent PAT and ENGAA students have both gone on to recieve offers of interview at Oxford and Cambridge respectively.
Tutoring Approach
My friendly and inventive teaching style focusses not only on content, but also on developing the crucial analytical and problem-solving skills - often neglected by schools - that are necessary for success both in exams and the wider world.
A deep understanding of a subject arises only from active participation of the students, so I teach through questions, leading my students towards the answer whilst allowing them to think concepts through and ask their own questions in return.
This process is the only way true knoweldge of a subject to sink in, and it also increases students' confidence, as they can see how they arrived at the answers themselves!
PAT - Doing well in the PAT requires a unique method of thinking grounded on a solid and interconnected basis of understanding. This is more the model of learning at university, and especially at Oxford, but is not taught in school.
In my PAT tuition, I aim to bring out these skills and perspectives alongside a focus on past questions to increase familiarity and confidence.
ENGAA/NSAA - Again, these unique exams require a unique style of preparation, mainly due to the incredibly short amount of time allotted for so many short questions. I prepare students with all the key concepts, and use lots of past questions for practice of timing and exam technique.
Testimonials
"...I want to thank you for all your help tutoring Callum for the PAT test. Callum has really enjoyed the classes and we were delighted to hear that he was accepted for interview! Thanks for jumping between different topics to cover the holes and make sure Callum knew all the terminology in English"
