Tutoring Experience

Since 2013, I have been immersed in English education, starting as a lead teaching assistant at a London academy, where I focused on literacy development. In 2016, I earned my PGCE from the University of Exeter and taught IGCSE English on the south coast of England through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme.

My experience includes roles as an Education Manager and independent consultant, but my passion remains teaching English. Since 2021, I have focused on tutoring IGCSE English, specialising in exam preparation, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and writing skills. I also offer guidance in interview preparation and personal statement writing for university admissions.

For IGCSE English, I begin with an introductory session to understand the student’s strengths, challenges, and literary preferences. I conduct diagnostic assessments covering key skills like comprehension, writing, and grammar to identify focus areas. Lessons blend interactive discussions with targeted learning on exam techniques, essay structuring, and critical analysis. Homework focuses on reinforcing concepts, with personalised reading lists to develop vocabulary and literary appreciation. Sessions conclude with quizzes or fun activities to recap and consolidate learning.
