Tutoring Experience

With a decade of experience in teaching IB Economics and Business Management in London, my expertise lies in personalized, one-on-one tutoring. I specialize in guiding students through the complexities of the IB curriculum, particularly in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, and key business management concepts. My approach includes a strong emphasis on Internal Assessments (IAs), where I encourage students to integrate real-world examples into their analyses, deepening their understanding of both economic theories and business practices.

As a friendly and qualified educator with extensive experience in a top-tier, fee-paying international school in the UK, my teaching style is tailored to meet the diverse needs of my students. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of tutoring students from various cultural backgrounds, including Chinese students, in a boarding house setting, consistently aiding them in achieving high grades. Throughout my teaching career at several prestigious institutions, I've focused on Higher Level (HL) IB Economics and IB Business Management.

My roles have extended beyond classroom teaching to include responsibilities as a Class Tutor and Dorm Supervisor. In addition to Economics and Business Studies, my experience includes teaching Accounts, ICT, and French. In my approach to teaching Business and Economics, I emphasize the foundational concepts of the subjects, such as supply and demand, market structures, and fiscal and monetary policies in Economics, alongside key business principles like organizational structures, marketing strategies, and financial management. Understanding these core ideas is vital for students to build on more complex theories and applications in both fields.

I recognize the varied challenges students encounter in grasping these subjects. Therefore, I tailor my teaching methods to meet their individual needs, focusing on simplifying complex theories and demonstrating their application in real-world business and economic scenarios. As exams near, my focus extends to enhancing students' essay-writing skills, an essential component in both Economics and Business studies. I guide students in structuring their essays coherently, presenting arguments clearly, and employing appropriate business and economic terminology. This skill set is crucial for success in examinations, where clear and precise communication is as important as the content itself.

Incorporating past exam papers into my teaching strategy is another key element. This practice familiarizes students with exam formats and question types in both Business and Economics, helping to alleviate exam-related stress.
