I am presently pursuing a Dual Bachelor's Degree at Columbia University. In the spring of 2021, I graduated as valedictorian from the IB program with a score of 43. I am eager to assist current students in navigating their academic journey. My tutoring expertise spans a range of IB subjects and guidance on university admission essays. My goal is to create tutoring sessions that are not only comfortable and conducive to learning but also highly productive.

Tutoring Experience

Throughout my DP years I tutored numerous younger students in English, German, Business Management, and the Extended Essay, many of whom went on to score 6 or 7 in their finals.

I also remotely tutored a student at an IB school in India for English HL and successfully raised their grade to a 7. Being a German native speaker allowed me to lead my school’s German tutoring program and improve my students’ language skills, which in numerous cases helped them succeed in university admissions interviews.

Several of my students are applying to top universities around the world and have worked closely with me to produce successful admissions essays and ease the application process.

Both through personal experience in this subject and observing my students, I’ve found that obstacles must be tackled at the root. I believe in a constructive rather than destructive approach, and look to help the student understand criteria, structure their assignments, analyze texts, and acquire the necessary tools to think critically about this subject. I hope to both kindle passion for the subject and help the student disassemble difficult tasks into digestible components.

German Tuition Approach

Being a German national and native speaker, my approach to this subject consists of creating a comfortable, embarrassment-free environment in which every piece of language learning is accompanied with understanding German culture and real-life application of what is being learned. I aim to demystify the daunting task of tackling a foreign language and create clear milestones for the student to observe their incremental progress. Together, we tackle all aspects of communication – writing, speaking, reading, and conversation.

Admissions Essay Tuition Approach

Tutoring pupils in writing their admissions essays rests on one sacrosanct virtue: there is no such thing as a student that has nothing to say. Every young adult, regardless of how far they have travelled or how many clubs they have joined, has a story to tell and unique character to showcase. My approach to tutoring students in answering prompts – consists of brainstorming the individual’s passions, talents, goals, and stories, and providing them with the tools to be concise and inspiring.
