Tutoring Approach
As a young student, I was always curious about why mathematical discussions rarely took place at the dining table and, when they did, were limited to grocery-related math. This curiosity fuelled my exploration into number systems, algebra, mensuration, and trigonometry, prompting me to question the very essence of mathematical learning. Why do we need paper and pen to prove our mathematical prowess?
Why are certain mathematical constants, like π and Euler, significant?
My journey led me to the realization that the challenges in understanding math stemmed from systemic issues within our education framework. I conducted a survey, challenging the belief that "practice makes math perfect." Teaching derivatives using the Ab-Initio method to one group and demystifying each step for another, I observed that true mathematical understanding comes not just from practice but from thinking critically and making connections with real-life scenarios.
Embracing the philosophy of teaching through thinking, I strive to make mathematics relatable and engaging for students. By connecting mathematical concepts to various disciplines and utilizing technology as a powerful tool, I believe in enhancing the learning experience. Whether it's visualizing parabolic trajectories in sports, exponential decay curves in cooling beverages, or logarithmic relationships between study hours and grades, I aim to make math an integral part of students' daily lives.
