Tutoring Experience

I’ve taught GCSE and IGCSE Maths to students with different starting points, helping them achieve A*s and grade 9s. My tutoring includes explaining unfamiliar methods, revisiting gaps in key topics and preparing students for exam questions. I adapt explanations when a student needs a different way into a problem, using guided practice before asking them to try independently. This has taught me to pay attention to their working, where a small mistake can reveal a wider misunderstanding.

Tutoring Approach

We start with a question so I can see how you think through a problem. If you get stuck, I explain the idea in smaller steps and we work through an example together. I ask why you chose a method, not just what answer you found. Once the reasoning makes sense, you try a similar question with less help. We return to mistakes to work out what caused them, then use exam questions to practise choosing an approach for yourself. There is always time to ask me to explain something another way.
