I’m a PGCE-qualified teacher with over 18 years’ experience teaching English across the UK and a top international school. I’ve taught GCSE (AQA), A-Level and IB English A at SL and HL, working with native and EAL learners. As an IB Examiner, I translate mark-scheme expectations into clear steps. Successes include moving an IB 5 to a 7, an AQA GCSE 6 to a 9, and an A-Level B to an A*. I also coach the IO and HL Essay.

Tutoring Approach

I start with a diagnostic to pinpoint strengths and gaps, then build a plan around the exact assessment demands. We close-read, annotate purposeful quotations, craft sharp theses and develop analytical paragraphs with secure structure. I model top-band responses, co-write with students, and move to independent timed practice using mark schemes and examiner commentary. For IB, I guide the IO and HL Essay from topic choice to final polish. Every lesson ends with clear targets and feedback you can act on.
