Tutoring Experience

I have experience tutoring English students, helping them develop detailed interpretations, use literary terminology accurately and express their ideas clearly in writing. I’ve also created revision resources and shared them on educational platforms. My own Cambridge application involved a personal statement, written work, an admissions test and interviews, giving me first-hand experience of preparing for each stage. I can give feedback to help students revise their essays with a clear focus.

Tutoring Approach

We’ll start with a passage and your response to it, then look closely at the words that support your reading. I’ll ask questions to help you test and refine your argument before putting it into writing. We can compare model answers with the marking criteria and practise using literary terms precisely. We’ll also practise linking paragraphs and planning essays. Between lessons, I’ll provide written feedback and specific points to work on, so you know what to change when you next sit down to write.
