Tutoring Experience

I have 11 years of teaching experience in the UK and Malaysia, including extensive work with A-Level English students. As an examiner for Cambridge International, I have 8 years of experience assessing GCSE and IGCSE papers, which has honed my understanding of exam requirements.

I have also provided private tuition for 6 years, including tailored support for international school students preparing for A-Level and AP English. My work as an IB examiner since 2021 further reflects my depth of experience with advanced curricula.

Beyond teaching, my pastoral care as a Head of Year has prepared me to support students of diverse abilities, including those with learning difficulties or English as an Additional Language. Many of my former students have successfully secured places at leading universities worldwide.

Tutoring Approach

My sessions for A-Level English are meticulously planned to challenge and support each student in mastering their subject. I focus on diagnostic questioning and formative assessment to identify strengths and areas for growth, ensuring rapid progress.

Using retrieval and spaced practice, I help students retain knowledge and apply critical thinking skills effectively. Lessons are bespoke, combining targeted exam preparation with fostering a deep appreciation for literature and language. Clear learning outcomes are set from the outset to ensure focused, meaningful progress.
