Tutoring Experience

I have taught secondary Mathematics and Biology at international schools in Europe and South America in addition to tutoring at the secondary and postsecondary level for over 15 years, including IB Math and Biology SL/HL; AP Calculus AB/BC, Statistics, Biology, and Environmental Science; A Level Maths and Biology; and the SAT and ACT exams.

For the IB, I have successfully guided students through both the IA and EE processes from topic selection to final submission. My students have gone on to achieve their target grades and gain admission to their target universities in Europe and the US.

Additionally, I have written course content for an online international school based in Europe in AS and A Level Biology, Environmental Management, Chemistry, and Physics, including textbook content, assessments and study guides. I have also published IB study guides for tutoring companies based in the US.

Prior to teaching, I worked as a medical scribe and clinical assistant in high-risk Obstetrics & Gynecology clinics in the US, with six years of experience in direct patient care.

Tutoring Approach

I specialize in science-based intervention strategies with a focus on building confidence and independent learning skills.

I assess every student for learning style and skill deficits and strengths, and create individually tailored lessons, problem sets and study plans.

As a former classroom teacher, I can also offer unique insight into exam structure and the application of assessment criteria. All of my students gain a better understanding of who they are as learners and how to maximise retainment and study efficiency in the future.

Above all, I believe in motivating students through positivity and humour, because it's hard to learn if you're miserable! I have a proven track record of building strong student relationships that result in measurable improvements in academic achievement and attitude, including successful remediation for exam resits.
