Personally Interviewed
Our tutors go through a rigorous selection process, having been interviewed to assess their teaching skills and subject knowledge. They have extensive tutoring experience with a track record of success, helping students achieve their academic goals.
Tutoring Experience
I have extensive experience in providing BMAT and UCAT tuition, with over 100 hours dedicated to helping prospective medical applicants. Additionally, I have worked for 50 hours on interview and personal statement preparation for these applicants.
My experience also includes 20 hours of Oxbridge preparation. I have tutored Year 13 students in A-Level Chemistry and A-Level Biology for 50 hours, and Year 11 students in GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry, and GCSE Mathematics for over 100 hours. Furthermore, I have provided 50 hours of 13+ science tuition.
During my time in sixth form, I ran a STEM class for years 7-9 for 16 hours and a Mathematics Challenge class for the same age group for 24 hours. Recognizing the importance of CPR skills in society, I initiated and conducted a CPR class, which I ran weekly for different form groups, cycling through each year group, for a total of 16 hours.
Tutoring Approach
I've always enjoyed working with people. My best teachers and tutors understood that everyone is different and adapted their approach to engage with each student. Growing up, I was never afraid to ask what felt like silly questions. I strive to create an open environment where students feel comfortable asking anything they don't understand, as this is the best way to learn.
Chemistry and Biology Tuition Approach
When tutoring, I start the session by addressing what the student has struggled with over the week to clear any immediate uncertainties. I then centre the rest of the lesson around a topic, focusing on the course specification and how these topics appear in exams. Understanding the topic is important, but this understanding needs to be in the context of how the exam will question you.
Maths Tuition Approach
Maths is not just for those who are “naturally good at maths”! Like any subject, it requires a bit of practice and a bit of patience. Not having a complete understanding of the basic skill of a mathematics question often limits a student. I like to strip questions back and build up to the difficulty level of an exam. Practice makes perfect in maths.
UCAT
The admission exams for medical school consist of clear subsections targeting specific skills and knowledge areas. Using a variety of resources and my own insights, I have created comprehensive lesson plans for each subsection to address the specific needs of each student. These plans help students identify and directly tackle their weak spots, including targeted practice questions and diverse techniques to suit different learning styles, ensuring thorough preparation. Aptitude tests, although relatively new and intimidating, can be mastered with the right approach. My goal is to demystify these exams and show students that they are just another type of test that can be prepared for and aced.
Medical Admissions
Having spent six years in the academic environment at Cambridge, I have had the opportunity to speak with many supervisors and course organizers across a range of science subjects, gaining valuable insights into what admissions committees look for in a student. Coupled with my own experience, where I received offers from all four medical schools I applied to, I am well-equipped to assist with personal statement writing and interview preparation. This unique combination of extensive academic experience and insider knowledge allows me to provide customized, informed guidance to prospective medical students.

Testimonials
“...Sam kept me engaged by asking me questions, which I found helpful because in class I would lose concentration. He taught me GCSE biology, chemistry and maths and I am now doing biology and maths at A-Level...”
GCSE student
“Sam helped me with UCAT. He was a brilliant teacher who went through the exam section by section. Within each section he would break down the question types and this made it much easier for me to improve as I could isolate my areas of improvement. Beyond his lesson plans he was a friendly guy who made me excited to get into medical school”
UCAT student
“Sam was very personable, he was very easy to talk to from the start and had a lot of patience! Sam kept me engaged by asking me questions, which I found helpful because in class I would lose concentration. He taught me GCSE biology, chemistry and maths and I am now doing biology and maths at A-Level. Sam will definitely increase your understanding of a topic and most importantly improve your grades”
