Tutoring Experience
Since high school, I've been offering tutoring services, aiding both classmates and students from other circles. Over the last five years, while residing in London, I primarily tutored in IB maths, covering both SL and HL levels and TMUA and Oxbridge/Imperial Mathematics related admissions. I have tutored more than 300+ hours in total! Having scored perfect 7s in IB Further Mathematics and Mathematics, I am very well versed with the IB Curriculum and also with Admissions Preparation.
Tutoring Approach
Typically, our sessions span about one and a half hours, encompassing both theory and practical exercises. I prefer to begin with the foundational theory, using examples, and then progress to hands-on exercises, ranging from basic to advanced. There's ample homework provided, allowing students to come up with questions for our next meeting before we move forward. After completing a chapter, there's a brief assessment. I cater to students aged 15 and older, specifically for A-levels and IB qualifications. Over the last five years, I've tutored numerous students, achieving significant successes along the way.
I tailor each session to the individual student's pace and learning style, ensuring they feel comfortable and confident with the material before moving on. My goal is not only to help students excel in their exams but also to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them in higher education and beyond. I encourage active participation, asking questions to engage students throughout the lesson. By focusing on both the big picture and the finer details, I aim to foster a deeper understanding of the subject, ensuring long-term retention and success.
Testimonials
"Chris helped me the last two years of school in maths for IB. When I was in high school and the first days of IB I was quite a bad student because I didn't like mathematics. Chris taught me to love maths and his way of teaching was something extraordinary for his age, very smart, very good and very good at explaining things many times. I finished IB school with a solid 7 in Maths due to Chris' teaching!"
