I studied Engineering Science at Oxford and now tutor A-Level Maths and Physics, plus ESAT prep for students applying to Engineering. Having been through the same admissions process myself, I've got a good sense of what the test and interviews are really after. Tutoring Experience

I've worked with Oxbridge Engineering applicants running ESAT and PAT preparation classes and giving feedback on personal statements. A big part of that has been mock interviews, where I set realistic engineering problems and then talk through how the student reasoned. Alongside the admissions side, I've taught A-Level Maths and Physics, usually getting students ready for their summer exams with plenty of past paper practice. I tutor online, sharing diagrams and worked solutions on a shared whiteboard.

Tutoring Approach

My sessions run on questions rather than me talking at the student. I'll set a problem, get them to walk me through their thinking, and hold back hints until they've genuinely had a go. With physics I really want them to see why a principle holds before reaching for a formula. That habit pays off on the harder ESAT and interview questions, since they end up reasoning from first principles instead of trying to recall a memorised method. I keep sessions fairly relaxed too, so there's always room to ask the daft questions.
