Tutoring Experience

I am presently tutoring students who are applying to Oxford to study Russian and Cambridge to study Arabic. I also have experience tutoring English at A level – preparation and teaching Chinese children English online.

Tutoring Approach

I would mostly tailor my lesson to what the student wanted, as I think that would be most beneficial. Perhaps they would like to learn a bit of Russian before they go, or be recommended some supplementary reading for it.

For this particular tutoring I would focus very much on mock interview practice. This would involve a 20-25-minute mock interview including a text to analyse, and questions about the student’s personal statement. Then the next half an hour would be focussed on reviewing what went well in the interview, and what could be improved.

My main objective is to make the lessons engaging and useful for the student, and to make them feel confident when they walk into the interview room.
