Tutoring Experience

I have tutored students in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer science, with successful and immediate improvement for those struggling with the subjects. I’ve carried out tuition both to students in my high school, as well as to a number of students studying the International Baccalaureate, and A-Level Computer Science. Whilst still at high school, I also initiated a club on Game Theory, in which I tutored a group of students and guided them through the basic concepts of the topic.

I have also tutored students through the Oxbridge Admissions process, helping them with personal statement writing, the MAT, and interview preparation.

Tutoring Approach

Having successfully gone through the Oxford University admissions process for Mathematics and Computer Science with minimal support from my school, I can help students prepare for the Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT), as well as the interview process. Using the resources that I used to prepare for the test myself, I can give students at insight into the nature of the exam and what it takes to do well. Having gone through the interview process myself, and also discussing the process with my current professors at Oxford, I am in a great position to help others prepare for them. I can help students thoroughly prepare for the interviews, and teach them the analytic skills that tutors are looking for, and giving mock interviews with past interview questions for practice.

When I carry out tuition, I teach students to become familiar with the philosophy and the requirements of the exam they are studying for, and have them comprehend how to approach different styles of questions. Through understanding the methodology of different exercises, a student can approach the respective exam with confidence and perform at a level corresponding to the effort they have put into revising and thoroughly understanding the material. This approach enabled me to perform well in my examinations, and I believe that following such a systematic scheme under the guidance of a tutor, a student can achieve their academic goals.
