I’m a Maths and Physics tutor with a PhD in Applied Mathematics and around 5+ years of teaching experience, including one-to-one and small-group work at university level. Tutoring Experience
I’ve spent the past five years teaching maths and physics in both formal and informal settings, including one-to-one sessions and small-group teaching at university level. I currently tutor online and work with students across secondary and early undergraduate study. Most of my teaching has been in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and I’m used to supporting a mix of students, from those aiming for top grades to those who need help closing gaps and becoming more consistent.
Tutoring Approach
My teaching style is structured but relaxed. I usually start by asking students to talk me through how they’re thinking, because that tends to show where the real issue is. From there, we work through problems step by step, using discussion and carefully chosen examples rather than memorising methods. I want students to understand why something works, not just copy a technique. I also set focused practice when useful, especially for exam preparation or topics that need repetition.
