Hi, I'm Juliet I am a Natural Sciences graduate from St Catharine's College, Cambridge. I became a tutor because I was lucky to receive excellent support myself during exams and university applications, and really enjoy passing this on to new students. I also like the opportunity it gives me to pass on the joy I find in understanding my subjects. I aim to help my students reach their full potential, and to hopefully encourage the interest and enjoyment they find in their subject.

Biology and Chemistry Tuition Approach

My lessons are tailored to each individual student, in order to work on the areas they are struggling with the most. I often start with a basic structure which mixes teaching and interactive exercises with working through exam questions. This can then be adapted to suit the individual - I am confident teaching whole topics students have either missed or don’t feel they covered properly at school, but if it is simply exam technique they struggle with then my lessons have more of a focus on how to answer questions and know what the examiner is looking for. Above all it is important to me that my students feel confident with their subject, and that they understand where the answers come from and how they can apply their knowledge further.

University Admissions Tuition Approach

I offer mock interviews for natural sciences and biological sciences, which I found to be by far the most useful resource during my own Cambridge application process. I find that these help my students develop their confidence, and improve their ability to talk on the spot about their subject, and turn the interviews to their advantage. I’ve found that candidates find these sessions very rewarding and enjoy looking at their subjects in new and more in-depth ways than they have previously, and it is always a pleasure to be able to point them in the direction of further resources to find out more. I also advise students on Personal Statements, from the initial phases when I help with how to structure them and what to focus on right through to the final polishing stages.
