Born to Japanese parents, I spent the majority of my formative years in Italy, where I pursued and completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Over the years, I have accrued extensive experience in tutoring, assisting students in their school examinations and guiding them through the intricacies of university application processes.

Tutoring Approach

Regardless of the subject, I greatly value delivering clear and concise messages to my students. I like to establish a learning plan during the earlier sessions, detailing the content that will be covered as well as the expected learning outcomes.

As for Humanities and Social Sciences subjects, I enjoy maintaining an encouraging and positive attitude. I am particularly confident in crunching down complex concepts into more digestible explanations, which should greatly speed up the student’s understanding. In addition to this, I will always remind the student to situate whatever concept they are learning within the wider curriculum. Doing so allows a balanced learning experience, contributing to the formation of a rich and widely applicable pool of knowledge. Each session will act as a dialogue, and I will ask engaging questions towards the end of the session to ensure the student’s understanding as well as to promote further developments of their ideas.

Admissions of Humanities and Social Science subjects tend to be driven by the candidate’s own academic interests. I will point the student to further readings and occasionally challenge their preconceptions to strengthen their ideas. I will also ensure that these ideas are presented in the most effective manner by improving the student’s personal statement and interviewing skills.
