I’m a Biology and Chemistry teacher with over 24 years of teaching experience in UK schools. I hold a BSc in Biochemistry, a PGCE and QTS, and currently teach GCSE, IGCSE and A Level in school. I’m also an examiner for CIE IGCSE and A Level Biology, so I know exactly how scripts are marked. Alongside teaching, I’ve tutored for more than a decade, helping students prepare for GCSE/IGCSE and A Level exams with clear, structured support.

Tutoring Experience
I’ve been tutoring for 12+ years alongside full-time teaching, working with students across GCSE, IGCSE, O Level, AS and A Level Biology and Chemistry. Much of my work involves supporting pupils who feel stuck or have fallen behind, as well as high achievers aiming for top grades. As a CIE examiner, I regularly see how marks are gained and lost, and I use that insight in lessons. I’m very familiar with Cambridge specifications and have supported many students through final exam preparation and retakes.
Tutoring Approach
I start by pinpointing where understanding breaks down, whether that’s core concepts like bonding or more complex topics such as genetics or organic pathways. We then work through targeted exam questions and past papers so students can practise applying knowledge properly. I place strong emphasis on command words, mark allocation and structured answers. Over time, students become more independent and far more comfortable handling unfamiliar questions under timed conditions.
