Tutoring Experience
I have been tutoring for two and a half years, during which time I have completed over 1000 hours of lessons, working with students from a variety of academic backgrounds and skill levels. Since March 2022, I have provided private tutoring through both individual 1-on-1 sessions and small group sessions of up to five students, tailoring my approach to suit each student's unique needs and learning styles. My tutoring philosophy centers around using past paper questions as a key resource, as I believe this method allows students to gain a thorough understanding of exam techniques and build familiarity with the types of questions and tricks that examiners often incorporate.
Tutoring Approach
My approach revolves around reinforcing key concepts while boosting students' confidence in handling challenging problems under exam conditions. I use a focused method that involves guiding students through past papers, helping them identify areas of improvement, and developing effective strategies to maximize their exam performance. This approach has consistently proven to be highly effective, as it allows students to master complex material, refine their problem-solving abilities, and achieve their academic goals. By focusing on real exam questions, students not only become familiar with the format but also gain a deeper understanding of how to approach and break down difficult questions.
When parents/students provide me a list of topics their child needs to focus on, I compile relevant questions and have the student attempt them independently, without help. This allows me to assess their strengths and weaknesses. After reviewing the answers, I discuss which areas were handled well and where improvement is needed. From there, I tailor lessons to address weaker topics, using a structured process of practice, review, and revision. I keep track of the student's progress by recording scores from practice papers and ensuring consistent improvement. If progress is slow, I adjust my teaching strategy, sometimes introducing additional material or a different approach to better suit the student's needs. This dynamic and responsive method helps ensure every student makes tangible progress toward their academic objectives.
