Tutoring Experience

I have experience of tutoring Maths for a local business, where I worked with students on a group and individual basis, both in person and online. I delivered focused support programmes adapted to each of my individual students, ensuring progress in confidence and ability with every lesson.

My responsibilities included lesson planning, resource provision and teaching as well as providing homework assignments, marking and regular one on one feedback. I also enjoyed the opportunity to develop great relationships with my students and their parents, communicating frequently and offering my support outside of lessons.

Tutoring Approach

I am a relaxed and friendly tutor that strives to create an atmosphere where learning is enjoyable and rewarding. My lessons are highly interactive and student focused. Opportunities to assess understanding throughout sessions will direct the lesson and aspects of future teaching to target improvements on the areas that need it most.

I have a flexible approach, and I am happy to provide structured plans covering subject content in depth, or to identify and focus on gaps in knowledge for a particular student. I am a firm believer in the importance of practice and my methods reflect this, with an emphasis on demonstrating worked examples and guiding students through exam practice. I am influenced by the small group teaching I have experienced at University, where hints and continuous feedback allow learners the satisfaction of solving problems independently. This proves to be highly effective in developing true understanding and delivering memorable learning experiences.

I have first hand, recent experience of the qualifications I teach, which allows me to develop trusting, honest relationships with my students. I know how difficult concepts can appear at first and the struggle of approaching challenging topics, but I believe that every student is capable of overcoming these hurdles and I want to work with them as a team - to lead the way, boost their confidence, encourage enthusiasm and celebrate their successes.
