Tutoring Experience

I have over 170 hours of teaching experience, which has been a mixture of 11+, GCSEs, A-levels and university application preparation. This experience has helped me hone my teaching style and taught me the importance of tailoring my approach for each student to ensure they get the most out of sessions with me. I seek to ensure that my students have a rounded understanding of the areas I tutor and encourage them to be excited about the subjects they are learning. Students I have tutored have been from a wide variety of backgrounds and skill levels, enabling me to gain an insight into the unique needs as well as strengths and weaknesses that different individuals may have.

Tutoring Approach

TSA – I took the TSA twice, failing to gain an interview the first time and achieving a top score the second time. As such I know what is needed to improve. Time management, efficiency and accuracy are the crucial skills which I will seek to instil in my students. I will also set exercises to be completed for further TSA sessions to ensure that practice is consistent. Practice is critical to doing well in the admissions test.

PPE Admissions – I will encourage excitement and passion for the subject as these are fundamental elements to succeeding in the PPE admissions process. Readings, discussions and exercises will revolve around what my students find interesting as challenging, requiring deep critical engagement beyond what may have been learned in A-level courses. I will help you create the best application you can from the personal statement through to the interview itself, and ensure that you enjoy yourself along the way.
