To complete a climate graph, plot temperature as a line graph and precipitation as a bar graph on the same axes.
A climate graph, also known as a climatograph, visually represents the average temperature and precipitation of a specific location over a year. To start, you need data for both temperature and precipitation for each month. Typically, the x-axis represents the months of the year, from January to December.
First, draw the bar graph for precipitation. On the left y-axis, label the scale for precipitation in millimetres (mm). For each month, draw a bar that corresponds to the amount of precipitation recorded. Ensure the bars are evenly spaced and accurately reflect the data.
Next, plot the temperature data. On the right y-axis, label the scale for temperature in degrees Celsius (°C). Use a different colour or style to distinguish it from the precipitation bars. For each month, place a dot at the appropriate temperature value. Once all the dots are plotted, connect them with a line to form the temperature curve.
Make sure to include a title for your graph, such as "Climate Graph for [Location]". Also, add a key or legend to explain which colour or style represents temperature and which represents precipitation. This helps anyone reading the graph to understand it quickly.
Finally, double-check your graph for accuracy. Ensure that all data points are correctly plotted and that the scales on both y-axes are appropriate for the data range. A well-constructed climate graph provides a clear visual summary of the climate patterns in a given location, making it easier to analyse and compare different climates.
