For example, if the speed is too high, the object may slide off the turntable due to insufficient centripetal force. This experiment can be used to demonstrate the relationship between velocity, radius, and centripetal force in circular motion.
A more advanced demonstration of circular motion can be achieved using a mass on a string swung in a horizontal circle. This setup allows for the exploration of the relationship between the tension in the string, the mass of the object, the radius of the circle, and the speed of the object. By varying these parameters and measuring the resulting motion, students can gain a deeper understanding of the forces involved in circular motion.
